iphone 5 - stocks app not updating

That app is pulling data from a Yahoo! server. Try tapping the Y! icon in the lower left corner of the app, if you see the same problem on their site, you'll know it's something that Yahoo! will have to fix.

One other thing that might cause the problem is the network connection, try connecting to the Internet over another Wi-Fi network or over the cellular data network.

I am having the same problem on iPhone 5. The charts and the news are updating but the quote is not updating. Last update June 3, 3:29 PM. Quitting the app and restarting doesn't help. The Y! icon works. If I delete a symbol and add it back to the list, the quote area remains completely blank.

I am having the same issue. This is problematic, I rely on this app to check my stocks.

Yes, I have been having the same problem.

Try removing the icon from your recently viewed apps. This fixed it for me:

Press home button twice until icons appear at bottom of screen

Locate Stocks app in this section

Press and hold stocks icon until red minus sign appears

Delete by pressing on minus sign

I've tried this many times but it still doesn't update. I even restarted my phone.

Using the ETrade app now. The one feature that the apple/yahoo stock has as my favorite feature is being able to use two fingers to quickly see the delta between two points on the graph. i have not seen a single app that does this.

My stock app stopped on June 4, 2013. I tried everything, even resetting my iPhone 3. No help. Funny thing is that my charts DO update but my stock price list and news DO NOT. Hope some Apple GuRu will chime in here.

I was having the same problem and was about to follow advice given to delete and re add all the stocks when it started working

My iPhone Stocks app started working just now (I previously stated that the app stopped working today, but actually it stopped last Friday).

So within the last minutes, the app was not working upon inspection so out of frustration, I scrolled down to the bottom of my "long" list and started clicking on various stocks randomly and rapidly. The app started working. Weird!

I was noticing that there were some issues with Yahoo today. I think the problem was on thier side but cannot be sure. When I tapped on the "i" there were times that safari colud not connect because the "server was not responding." There are always several "moving parts" involved in delivering content to a smart phone. I've spent countless non productive hours making changes that only complicated the issue. Waiting 48 hours is always best while checking to see if others are having the issue. These are "concumer products" and best effort is all that can be expected as a service level.

Looking at the UK share prices today you probably wish the app. was stll not updating?

Well, the stocks app worked for a day. It is on the fritz again this morning. Working again this afternoon. It is weird that the charts and news do update, as the stock price does not. I agree. I think it is a Yahoo problem. One would think that Apple would lets us know about the problem, since the app came with the phone. I have tried other apps, free and purchased. This one suits my needs perfectly, when working.

Today is the 14th and my stock app still is not updating.

Anybody figured out how to fix this?
