Hello guys!
I have not read all the posts carefully, but I see that the problem is not resolved for all. So, here is how I managed to pair:
1. Let's start from scratch, so make sure you have clicked on "Forget All Remotes" in Preferences > Devices on iTunes desktop.
2.Select "Add a Device" from the iPhone (or iPad?) app - let's not bother with Home Sharing.
3. When the 4 digit code comes up, you should be able to click the small iPhone icon - NOT the Remove icon the instructions mention! See the screenshot below:
4. Now you can finally see the Remove Icon Click as seen in the screenshot above. Click it!
5. Now the screen to enter the 4 digit code finally appears:
6. As soon as you enter the code, you are ready.
Hope this helps!

If your iPhone is connected to iTunes over wifi, the remote button won't show, Eject your iPhone and any other iPhones connected to your iTunes, open remote app in your iPhone, bring up the code page, and that's when you gonna see the little remote button at the top left.
and for sure make sure your connected to the same Wifi network...🙂
I to had this problem. Tried almost every solution proposed here and nothing. Eventually, I found out that the problem was that AVG antivirus was controlling my firewall and somehow bonjour and iTunes were not allowed to pass. After I uninstalled AVG, the remote icon appeared on iTunes as soon as i generated a code in the iPhone Remote App. So i believe the problem has to do with your firewall settings.
Dear Pepperc,
I was using the Remote application today, and I found out that the Remote button is now on the devices tab near the top-left hand corner. Click on it and if you are trying to send a code via your Remote application to your Mac or Windows computer, you will be able to see the Remote option underneath all of your devices. Click on Remote and enter the code shown on your iOS device.
Yours sincerely,

Found it...
I searched for the remote button but couldn't find it.
I ended up quiting Itunes and restarting iTunes (version 12.5.)
When iTunes reloaded, the little Remote icon showed up.
It's right where devices show up when syncing.
Yes that is the secret that Apple could have simply added to the instructions. Preferences/Sharing > make sure you are sharing your library. Close itunes and restart. The remote button will be there (only after restarting iTunes) and ask for the code you generated. Working perfectly now.
I discovered part of the problem is if you don't click the "Set Up Home Sharing" in the app, iTunes (on your desktop) & the remote app won't pair, & you won't see the "Remote" button since I have synced other devices to iTunes (which might explain why I couldn't find the "Remote" button). Long story short, the app & iTunes synced, but the button didn't reappear, but the remote app was able to control iTunes.😮
Hi there,
This is my first post here and I too was struggling to find the button. That's because it's not there! You have to turn on 'Home Sharing' under the FILE tab in itunes. Once you have done this is will appear. I may have quit and re opened itunes, I can't remember, but when home sharing was enabled it appeared. I hope this helps.
Please READ the article from which the question was posted.
There is no "remote button" in iTunes.
I can't find it either, and despite what Diesel vdub unhelpfully says, the button is supposed to be there per the article. Did yo ever find it?
The article clearly states :
3) Open iTunes on your computer and click the remote button.."
So, smart guy, where is it?
Nothing in the documentation says anything about a "remote button".
In fact, the step quoted above does not exist in the article.
Again, READ the article and follow the steps explicitly. Do not read between the lines.
I am reading the article in iTunes Help entitled "Use the remote app to control your iTunes library".
Under the subheading "Pair remote with an iTunes Library", point 3) is exactly as I quoted it.
I am running iTunes 11.04 (4), OSX 10.7.5
So, to what article are you referring? I "READ" rather well, as I suspect does pepperc. I would appreciate any actual assistance.
My statement is explicit.
Read the article from which the question was posted, in other words, the article linked to at the top of this thread.

If you are having issues with iTunes on a Mac, why are you posting in the iTunes for Windows forum?
The instructions you are attempting to follow will not work with an Android device which per your other thread is what you're trying to use. The remote app referred to in the instructions is an iOS app only, so instructions for it will not apply to your Android phone.
Regards.
