Compatable camcorders for IMAC G5

I have a G5 power mac. I have purchased a sony cx250 camcorder. The mac wont recognise this as it is AVCHD and needs an Intel Duo Core Processor. I use imovie 5 and imovie 9. Does that mean i need to get a mini DV camera or can i get a flash card memory camera? If so - can anyone reccommend a camera to get £200 - £300 range that is compatable.

Any help much appreciated.

Mini-DV cameras are my preference, but they require a firewire connection.

Thanks. My last camcorder was a mini dv. I have looked on the internet for some and they all seem to be "used". Do they not make them anymore?
