Q: When I airplay from my macbook air to Apple TV there is a checkerboard display on the computer screen when the movie starts and on the apple tv .

How to fix airplay to my apple tv. Home airplay is "on" on the apple tv and the computer. Movie plays on the macbook air but when airplay is activated a checkboard screen covers the computer and tv. They are on the same wi-fi. Blue tooth on the computer is off.

MacBook, iOS 6.1.4

You have mirroring enabled. If you are trying to play iTunes content just use home sharing or airplay.
