I've had my iPhone 4 for a year and a half not without any problems but my Maps app will not now display the Standard or Hybrid view. It affects other apps using Maps as well. The Satellite view on its own works okay.

Try double tap Home button and delete Maps from multitask-bar and do a
Reset: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Note: You will not lose any data

Clean, thank you for your prompt response again. I've checked the location services and privacy settings and systen 'traffic' settings as suggested in your link but still no joy. I have also reported the matters twice in the past two weeks, through the maps app, with no response.

Well next step is make an appointment with the Apple genius and have them evaluate.

Did anybody find a solution? I am having the same issue on my iPhone 4 with it affecting other apps which use apple maps. Google maps still functions fine, as does satellite view in apple maps.
I deleted and re-installed Google Maps and this seemed to resolve the issue in the iPhone Maps App. It is possible that an update in Google Maps caused the issue by using, amending or deleting an existing file also used by the resident Maps App but this is merely conjecture on my part. In any case re-installing Google Maps may be worth a try as it worked for me when nothing else suggested did.

Nothing I tried fixed the problem. I didn't want to restore my iPhone and was waiting for an update to fix it, then two weeks ago I tried Apple Maps again and it worked! My husband's is still not working though so still waiting for that update ......
A reset worked for me.
This was happening to my wife's iPhone 6.
I tried everything. I rebooted. I quite the Map application AND Find my iPhone.
Finally I pressed the on/off and home buttons until it rebooted and then everything was fine.
so you rebooted your phone twice?
II've had this problem since upgrading to iPhone 6. Just switched on and off and now working. Seems so simple after all that
