Half-green monitor--Quad core i7 Mac Mini

Yesterday when I was working on a film project, I noticed that half of my monitor flickered and then tinted green (I have a Dell S2340M). I decided to just wait and see what happens, but for some reason it wouldn't go away. I then tried to use a TB to dvi adapter and nothing changed. Finally, I plugged in my macbook pro (mini display to DVI) and there was nothing wrong. When I plugged in my mini again, it was fine. Around 20 mins later, I started to play a very low graphic game and it came back. What is up? I called some IT hotline and they told me to look at my diagnostics. I got this:

6/6/13 10:57:29.456 AM WindowServer[87]: Display 0x2b342fd6: MappedDisplay Unit 2; ColorProfile { 2, "DELL S2340M"}; TransferFormula (1.000000, 1.000000, 1.000000)

CGSGetDisplayAliasList: Invalid display 0x2b342fd4

Anybody know anything I don't? IT said that I might have an infection. I don't know if I belive that though. ALSO: I tried to download the EFI 1.7 made by Apple and there was no download. I found it from a third party and I got a message saying "incompatible hardware".

Additional Notes:

I just bought this computer 4 weeks ago brand new.

I upgraded the RAM to 8GB myself and I have gotten a white screen and had to hard restart and reinstall the RAM twice.

Hardware: Apple Keyboard, Razer Deathadder mouse, DELL S2340M monitor, 3 TB western digital external drive, 1TB HDD (Internal)

Any help is appreciated.

The problem may be related to how the Mini comes out of sleep mode. I've had a similar problem a few times - 1/2 green screen on wakeup. Previously I've 'fixed' it by rebooting...

Today though, using Teamviewer, I was able to reomtely log onto the computer in question and the 'screen' there was fine, so I went into System Preferences and simply changed the screen resolution and the image came up on the mini's display screen. I then cancelled the resolution change and the display was back to normal.

I am running OS X 10.10.5, the mini is from 2009 if I'm not mistaken...

Partial color shifts are usually a symptom of video RAM gone bad in the GPU. Unless it's the monitor, of course. If it's the computer, take it back.

This site is pretty comprehensive: http://www.playtool.com/pages/artifacts/artifacts.html

P.S. How do you like your Deathadder? I just got it, and looooooooooove it.

P.P.S. IT people rarely now soot from Soonola.

The dude at Dell tried to tell me it was my computer and not my monitor and I exlpained to him the same thing I said here...he told me I was one of 600,000 to have a Mac infection. I told him not likely, because most of my downloads are through Steam and iTunes and he tried to make me pay $140.00 to have a MICROSOFT technician remotley "fix" my "problem" from the inside and tried to tell me I needed a better firewall like AVG or Norton. ***.

Also - Loving my Death Adder. Hoping to get a Razer Keyboard soon, but I might have to get a new monitor first.

You can add me on Steam I'm Printerx on there too.

Dude at Dell obviously has no clue...

I'll make sure to add you on Steam. I'm not much of a gamer, though. I have basically discovered that gaming mice/mousepads are the bomb. I also use a Razer Orochi and an Ideazon Reaper Edge --love the Orochi, the Reaper not so much. Not sure why, as it should be the opposite: my hands are huge, you basically cannot see the Orochi when I'm using it.

I'm currently using a Goliathus mat, love it, too. Had a Rocketfish for years, didn't do much for me.
