I can't highlight address in address bar and press delete...

I attempt to highlight the address in the address bar up top and then press delete but it just doesn't want to do it. It used to. I have to place my cursor at the end of the address and manually delete each part of the address. It is a lot quicker to just highlight and delete.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

kellylaine1,

A triple click works for me.

Perhaps the Double-Click speed was altered in System Preferences...>Keyboard & Mouse>Mouse>Double-Click Speed.

If that is not the problem, Quit Safari, find the com.apple.Safari.plist file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder, drag it to the Desktop, log out/in or restart and let us know what happens.

Sounds like you were conditioned by the text-selection-misbehaviour of Internet Explorer...

In Safari and FireFox you can instantly select the whole addressbar text by either of these ways:

*) Klick the favicon to the far left of the address once.
*) Triple-click somewhere in the text (works in (almost) all apps for selecting a whole line of text)
*) Press Command-L

There is no need to press delete just to write a new address there. Once the text is selected you can start typing, it will automatically overwrite the selected text.
