If i make an in app purchase, does it come from my itunes credit or will I be charged for it?

We want to buy an upgrade on NBA Jam app. Before we do, want to know if it will come out of our Itunes credit?

iPod touch (2nd generation), iOS 5.1.1

If iTunes credit is available that willbe used before a credit card is debited.

When I tried to purchase the upgrade, Itunes wanted me to enter all my Credit Card info. Are you sure it won't be charged to my Card, because I have a credit on my Itunes account from Itunes gift cards?
