How to delete duplicated images from IPad II. If you follow the manual it does not do as it should

I would like to know how to delete duplicted images, some by error and some due to the fact that folders showing work done each year, and other folders showing the some works in an Exhbition file., I have searched the manual which states to click the item you want to delete and then a delete sign comes up, but this does not happen.

The tutorial showing how to dpwnload images to the IPad seems to have disappeared from the new I Tunes as I find if I add a new folder e.g. for 2013, then all the other folders from the year 2000 disappear.

iPad 2, iOS 6.1

Only photos taken with the iPad, copied onto it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly in the Photos app on the iPad - either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the Edit button in thumbnail view

Photos that were synced from your computer can't be deleted directly in the Photos app - you either need to movie/remove/de-select them from where they were synced from on your computer and re-sync, or you can delete all synced photos by swiping across the 'Photo Library' line in Settings > General > Usage > Cameras & Photos (under the 'Storage' heading).

As synced photos are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync, you need to include all the photos that you want to remain on the iPad in each sync - so if you want the photos from 2000 to remain on the iPad then you need to include them in the sycn with the 2013 photos.

If you want more control over your synced photos then there are third-party photo management apps such as Photo Manager Pro which allow you to delete synced photos directly in it

Thanks for your help. I have downloaded Photo Pro Manager, but there does not appear an option to transfer images from my Photo folders. There is a transfer option, but I want to either move images to the Photo Manager Pro from Photo Folders, so that they can be deleted.

When I have new images downloaded from my PC, will they automatically appear in the Photo Mmanager Pro?

I have a feeling that the only way I can clear out duplicates is to clear Photos completely and start again.

I am glad to see that I am not the only person who cannot resolve this problem. Why there is not a trash bucket you can click [as in Photo Stream] I do not know. Apple needs to change this.

New photos on your computer or copied into the Photos app won't automatically go into Photo Manager Pro, you will need to copy them.

You should be able to copy photos from the Photos app to it e.g. create or go into the album in Photo Manager that you want to copy the photos into and then tap the Import button bottom left of the screen : http://www.linkusnow.com/photomanager/help/ipad/help_main.php

As I already had some albums on my iPad when I got the app that it is how I copied my photos into it originally, before then removing them from the Photos app (I selected and synced just an empty folder from my computer so as to remove all synced photos).

If you want to start again with Photos then you can delete the photo cache from your computer (the photo cache is created when you sync photos) and then re-try syncing the photos - the location of the cache, and how to delete it, is on this page.
