Are you sure you want to remove existing music, movies, and TV shows from this iPod and sync with this iTunes library?

I recently upgraded my iMac to OS X 10.8.4 and my iTunes is newly at 11.0.4 (4).

I keep my complete iTunes library on my iPod. I attached my iPod to the mac to add a new album that I copied into iTunes and the Sync Music box is unchecked. When I check it - I receive this error message:

Are you sure you want to remove existing music, movies, and TV shows from this iPod and sync with this iTunes library? Music, movies, and TV shows synced to “___ iPod” from other iTunes libraries will be removed and items will be synced from this iTunes library. The choices are Cancel or Remove and Sync.

I only have one iTunes library on my mac but its huge. Is there any way around this so I don't have to delete my entire itunes library off my ipod just to add one new disc?

Thank you for any assistance.

iMac (27-inch Late 2009), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

I have the same problem. Being a satisfied Apple user for over twenty yearsm I can now say that I am completely disillusioned with the company. I spend hours and hours trying to figure out what used to be dead simple.

Now that I have iPads, iPods and iPhones, things are increasingly complicated. I use separate libraries for each device, but all music is stored in th main media folder. The devices work fine, until I try to update contents. I keep having to delete everything and start again. So, if I add one new item I seem to have to delete everything and then re-load, which takes forever.

The devices are capable of syncing with only one iTunes library at a time. So choosing to sync with a library will require removing associations from other librarys. If it is the only computer you have ever conducted a sync with, it may be due to an update to the itunes software that it thinks it is a new library.

Prior to syncing, just transfer your purchases (menu selection), to copy any purchased content from the device to the new iTunes library.
