can not slide to unlock the ipad

I need help on unlocking my ipad since it wont slide to unlock the whole screen is frozen for me when I try to slide to unlock it wont move and I can't slide to turn off.

iPad, iOS 6.1.1

Hi. The original post related to iOS 6. If you have iOS 10, slide to unlock has been removed. You must hit the Home button to unlock. Alternatively, you can use the technique I described here Restore Swipe to open (sort of). You can complain to Apple by posting here https://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html.

Have you tried a soft-reset to see if that helps ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
