Disabling touchpad acceleration?

I did a search and was unable to find any information regarding touchpad acceleration, or more importantly, how to disable it. For most, it doesn't bother them and or they like having accel., but for me, I find it very difficult to use input devices that have acceleration enabled. Is there any way to disable touchpad acceleration? (A 3rd party program or installer would be fine, too.)

Thanks!

It's a start, but not quite what I am looking for. The software you linked to offered alternative methods of acceleration (admittedly one of the options is better than the default acceleration, but still present) but it also removed two-finger scroll and right click. I am trying to find something that will simply remove or greatly reduce acceleration.

Thanks though. 🙂 Other suggestions greatly appreciated.

Sure, you have to work with it a little but if you are persistent, you can get it to what you like.

Go to System preferences, open Keyboard and Mouse, and adjust Track Speed. if that doesn't do it enough, then go to System Preferences, Universal Access, Mouse and Trackpad, and adjust the settings there. Don't check "Ignore trackpad when using mouse" because then your settings won't affect the trackpad only a mouse.

That might change it enough to work for you.

The MacBook pro Trackpad settings are variable and range from really slow to fast; based on your preferred settings. The cursor response is closely matched to a 1:1 ratio unlike an accelerated enabled mouse that progressively increases speed that is somewhat disproportional to user input.

Try experimenting with your settings by opening Preferences/Keyboard & Mouse/Trackpad and adjust the speed settings for Tracking and Scrolling. Hopefully, you’ll find a suitable adjustment until such time that Apple may incorporate additional features.
