Pulled a pebble out of headphone jack, now ipod is unresponsive?

I found a pebble in the headphone jack and with about 5-10 minutes I got it out with a safety pin and a pair of tweezers, would this cause anything dealing with the powering up of an ipod that is plugged in?

It should not have had any effect.

Try:

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

- Try on another computer

- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
