iPod won't sync!!!

I have tried to snyc my iPod with my iTunes but it keeps saying "This iPod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes." I have done this twice now and it still won't work. What do I do now??
