Volume problem with Earpods. What to do?

When there is some noise around the mic, it automaticaly turns the volume down. Started when using Ipod and yesterday when using Macbook pro, too.
Any ideas? I don't need the mic at all, so if you have any idea how to turn it permanently off (maybe destroy)...
