Most sites let you keep a cookie for a login session for about a week.
Not here, if I quit my browsers (Chrome/FF) and there are no cookie cleanup routines active, I will have to sign-in again, which is nearly every day for some of my research in various Apple products that come to me from my friends.
Is this normal? If not, what do you suggest to fix?

Your sign in at these pages should work until you quit the browser. That closes your sign in.
I've kept Safari open for weeks and my sign in still works. I don't shut down my machine (just the display).
You should be able to save the forum login and password in your browser, and then have it auto-fill this information to make logging in easier.

@Kessler, I use 1password so the autofill isn't a problem.
