why does apple on tv tell me turn on home sharing, when it is on,

when i play movies from itunes to my apple tv 2 i very often can't get it to play, it tells me home sharing is not turned on, but it is, it is always on. i can get youtube from my computer, i can get netflix, etc but not the movies, and sometimes when i do get it they stop and tell me turn on home sharing. i have put an extension plug into the room next to the apple that brings the net closer. help.

AppleTV 2, Windows 7

No, it is not always on. The fact you are being told it is not on is kind of a hint here that it is NOT always on. There are lots of things can can block it or shut it off. For starters is the computer iTunes is on active ( not asleep ) and is iTunes running on it?

>i can get youtube from my computer

No you don't. Neither your computer nor home sharing is invovled when watching YouTube content.

>i can get netflix, etc but not the movies

Because Netflix is not using your computer or Home Sharing.

>sometimes when i do get it they stop and tell me turn on home sharing

Because the Home Sharing service connection is being lost. Which again it is telling you. As mentioned that can be caused by a lot of things.

>i have put an extension plug into the room next to the apple that brings the net closer

You what!?!? What exactly are you doing? This makes no sense. Hows does plugging in a electircal entention cord "bring the net closer"

hello brian cook4 thanks for your help, or should i say your attempt to help, i really do appreaciate it. as you will have gathered i am no computer buff, know very little, that's why i am on here. i know n/flix does not come from computer, i know youtube, anyway the point i was making is my wifi is strong enough where it is right next to my computer so the wifi is reaching the a/tv i don't let itunes sleep when using the apple, and the extension i am talking about is a wifi extender, wireless you plug it in and when it goes green it has found your wifi signal so it is bringing the singal closer to the apple. i know for sure you still won't know what i am talking about, don't blame you as i have trouble understanding myself.
