Jun 9, 2013 2:04 PM in response to dan204by Allan Sampson,The Bluetooth with my iPhone 5 worked right out of the box to connect with my Bluetooth headset and to Jawbone Jambox speaker.

Jun 9, 2013 2:05 PM in response to dan204by sberman,I agree with Allan. My iPhone 5 Bluetooth worked fine out of the box to connect to two different devices (not at the same time).

Jun 9, 2013 2:56 PM in response to sbermanby dan204,I have a problem and today have gone through 10s of pages of people with linking problems. consider yourselves lucky.
for both of you - did you restore your new phone from an old phone?
-
Jun 9, 2013 3:03 PM in response to dan204by sberman,Yes, I did the restore from an old iPhone.
Do you think that makes the solution easier or harder?
If you think it makes it harder, try Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings if you like.

Jun 9, 2013 3:20 PM in response to sbermanby dan204,I was wondering if restoring CREATED the problem - but evidently not for you.
I have reset the network (bluetooth and wireless) settings (more than once, actually).
and, I did reset all settings - also to no avail.
I cannot reset my Jabra (on the jabra), but I have elim my old I phone from my MBPro. Still no luck.
I am still stuck.

Jun 9, 2013 3:23 PM in response to dan204by sberman,What has worked for me with a Bluetooth headset is this:
When doing the initial pairing, try starting with the headset powered off, then power it on right at the same time as you have the iPhone looking for it.
That has helped me with a Plantronics headset.

Jun 9, 2013 8:46 PM in response to sbermanby dan204,as I sit here - I can't make it link up to my MacBook Pro.
-
Jun 9, 2013 8:48 PM in response to dan204by Allan Sampson,For what purpose?
If not for internet tethering with your MacBook Pro, there is no other purpose.

Jun 9, 2013 9:19 PM in response to dan204by sberman,To follow on to Allan's comment, I suggest you not attempt to use Bluetooth to connect your iPhone to a Mac.
Try Bluetooth connections to a headset, car audio, keyboard, or some device like that.

Jun 9, 2013 10:32 PM in response to sbermanby dan204,I am trying to link to my laptop - because it has Bluetooth. I am not trying to hookup to my hands free device in my car - because it is in my car, and I am not.
I am trying to use the bluetooth, with the ultimate goal of using the devices - none of which I have with me at the moment.

Jun 10, 2013 4:26 AM in response to dan204by Allan Sampson,You are complaining about not be able to pair the iPhone with devices you don't have you with at the moment?
Are you joking?
The only reason to pair an iPhone via bluetooth with a computer is for tethering with the computer. Do you have a tethering plan with your cell phone carrier and you are trying to tethering with your computer? If so, tethering via wi-fi is better and faster for that.

Jun 10, 2013 9:58 AM in response to Allan Sampsonby dan204,I don't think I need to explain everything to you.
right now, I have the iphone and the jabra hands free device with me.
I cannot pair them - now, or yesterday while I was in the car with both of them.
that's the problem that the iphone 4 didn't have.
It doesn't seem to matter in which order I turn on power. and, I am unable to pair.
and, i am unable to 'unload' the old iphone from the jabra item. I will look at their site for instructions on re setting the item.

Jun 10, 2013 10:03 AM in response to dan204by dan204,I went to the Jabra site. they explained how to re pair (the old had to be deleted).
now it works on the Iphone 5.
