Problems importing .mov clips to iMovie

My wife is doing her last week of chemo. We are trying to put together a video I can put on her iPad to watch during the last treatment. Many of her friends are emailing me videos taken off their cell phones (mostly iPhones) and are mostly in the .mov format.

I'm trying to import into iMovie to compile them all but the drag and drop nor the import features are working to import.

I am open to all suggestions.

Hello AtlantaRoyce,

You may be able to transport the video to iMovie via QuickTime Player. After opening the desired video in QuickTime Player, from the File menu, choose "Export To", then "iMovie..." Granted, the desired videos must be playable in QuickTime Player for this to work, but that should have your videos ready to go in iMovie!
