PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THIS MEANS!?!?!

So last year I lost my Ipod touch, 32 gb. Today i logged into icloud.com, first time since i lost it, and in my email I have been getting emails still, even ones from the apps i had when i lost my ipod. so what does that mean??? Is my ipod still out there, and the apps have not been deleted and my icloud account is still on that ipod? How am i still getting emails, assuming the theif deleted my account and wiped the ipod clean??
