This is a background service for the system's sudden termination features. It is active for every user account, and manages supported programs so they can be essentially turned off if the system's memory resources are low.
Thanks for the replies--I seem to have had a less than graceful upgrade install and restart of OS X Mountain Lion. Forced Finder closed, then reopened and got updates. Seems fine now...
If things seem awry, you can try some basic fixes by rebooting to Safe Mode (hold the Shift key at startup), running Disk Utility and both checking the hard drive for errors, the boot volume, and then run a permissions fix on the boot drive. When done, reboot normally and see if that clears up anything.
My contacts does launch in OS El Capitan. and it keeps on showing talagent. I tried restoring the system again but doesnt help. Could you suggest something?
