The wireless network does not support the requested encryption method?

I'm unable to bring this older iBook onto a network which uses WPA-Personal. No matter what, even after bringing it up to date with all software, I receive the message "The wireless network (insert network_namehere) does not support the requested encryption method" - which is sort of silly considering I have numerous other machines connected via that requested encryption method.

Has anyone come across this, and with any solution? Thanks!

Hi FAA,

The requirments for WPA are;

1 Mac OS X 10.3 or later
2 AirPort software version 3.3 or later for the AirPort Card (available via Software Update)
3 AirPort software version 3.2 or later for the AirPort Extreme Card (available via Software Update)

I'm not... But digging around to see if there was anything else going on I did come across the solution (which was sort of staring me in the face the whole time):

The wireless network was set up as 802.11g only, and was thus not supporting the older AirPort card. Thank you for your replies, and thank you Apple for the incredibly misleading error message.
