Q: I can't get my first generations to update it keeps saying that the update server cannot be contracted. What does this mean?

Everytime i hit the "Check for Updates" button a message pops up and says " the ipod software update server cannot be contracted" What does this mean and hoiw do i fix it?

iPod touch, iOS 4.2, Model MB528LL

Update Server
Try:
- Powering off and then back on your router.
- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
Public DNS — Google Developers
OpenDNS IP Addresses
- Try on another computer/network
- Wait if it is an Apple problem
