Hi, i have an ipod 4th generation, it is 2 and a half years old and i have never updated it, i have been trying to update it to the latest software since january and whenever i tried it would come up wouldn't let me and would come up awith a message about vpn networks which i know nothing about. However recently i turned on my ipod and it comes up with a symbol t connect to itunes, which i did and when connected stated that it was in recovery mode and needs restoring. When i went to restore it itunes claims there is nothing to restore it to, what do i do? can it be fixed? im not bothered if its wiped just need it to work again!

Did the message say it could not connect to update server? If so then

Try:

- Powering off and then back on your router.

- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server

- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers

Public DNS — Google Developers

OpenDNS IP Addresses

- Try on another computer/network

- Wait if it is an Apple problem

If not what did the message say (as I asked in my previous two replies)
