Two sided printing on hp Laser Jet 1022

Just upgraded to Mac OS 10.8.4. Now hp Laser Jet 1022 will not print two sided. Some solutions?

I am also having a two sided printing problem with 10.8.4. I was using an HP two sided workaround (Hp_Two-sided_Printing.dmg) that I downloaded in Dec 2012 and it was fine. Now it does not work with my HP laser jet 1020 Plus. Also, it no longer works with my Deskjet Ink Advantage K-109a. I do a lot of printing and really need to solve this issue quickly.

Hello Scooter49,

Thanks for the post. From what you are describing, it sounds like this may be more of a MAC setting than a printer setting since you cna't print duplex from any of your printers now. Check the link below for some great information, verify your settings. Good Luck!

I work for HP but my posts and replies are my own....Thank you!

I've had the same issue. I was using two-sided printing feature of the HP LaserJet 1022 almost daily for business, using the HP workaround Scooter49 described. (The workaround allowed for manual two-sided printing by selecting an option on a drop down menu (near the print PDF option)) To answer Shane_R@HP's question, since installing the Mountain Lion 10.8.4 update, the two-sided printing option still appears on the drop down menu, and when you select it, a PDF entitled two sided printing comes up (as before), but the printer doesn't do anything (used to be a brief wait, then it would start printing). Mac OS seemed to have found/downloaded a HP LaserJet 1022 patch (saw a window appear and then vanish), but no change in the printer's function, and now can't find the purported patch online or in the App Store. I would revert back to Mountain Lion pre-update (when the HP driver was working fine), but doesn't seem possible in App Store/system settings. Would greatly appreciate a new driver/patch from HP or 3rd party workaround - very helpful for business and personal use. Thanks!

I just updated to 10.8.4 and my HP double-sided printing software has been broken as well. Unfortunately you're all missing the mark, HP folks, as the problem is an exception raised by the software itself. It appears to only be happening for odd-numbered documents (this makes sense as the software needs to rearrange the pages in order to print the manual duplex correctly.) For those of you encountering this problem, check out your Console.app for further details. Here's what mine shows:

There is a work-around but it will require HP to update their software accordingly:

HP guys, it would be nice for you to escalate this to your software team.a

Shane, thanks for replying. I am using a LaserJet 1020 Plus with the LaserJet 1022 drivers. I was using an HP work around for double sided printing. It no longer works. The system does not offer double sided printing so HP developed a nice little program that installed and on the pdf section of the print screen you could select double sided printing. That does not work at all. I have reinstalled everything and am very frustrated by Apple and a little by HP since the 1020 does not support the Apple. So where do I go from here.

Hi 4stix. I have tried the double sided solution you sent to me but no matter how I put the paper in it does not print correctly. it is out of order or upside down on the page. I really got a lot of use out of the old HP work around I downloaded. It was called : HP_Two-sided_Printing.dmg It worked great and that is what is not working since this recent upgrade to 10.8.4. Any chance of getting another fix like that?
