Date And Time Won't Change

So I have an Ipod Touch 2nd Generation in which I cannot change the date and time. It keeps thinking that its 7:08pm on Dec. 31 1969. Everytime I try to change the time, it goes right back to the 7 and the 08. Same thing with the Date. I completely wiped the ipod out and reset it and still have the issue. I've done this three times and with the same results. No matter what I try, I cannot get the correct date and time on it. I have had this Ipod for almost three years with no issues at all until about month ago. Any suggestions on what I can do?

Yes, the calendar is set to Gregorain and always is. I've done a factory restore three times and it works for a few days then its back to the issue. As for a Genius Bar, I don't haveo near my. There is one in the state beside me and one two hours away. Both beyond out of my way and as a second generation, I don't think going that far for a issue like this is truly worth it. Doubt they can do anything to fix it because of how old is it. Would they replace it or something? And is this something that I could contact them with and get an answer to the problem?

If you did not restore from backup after restoring to factory settings/new iPod then it seems you have a hardware problem.

Apple will exchange your iPod with a refurbishe on for

$99 8 GB

$149 16 GB

$199 32 GB

Likley not worth it.

Apple will only give you a 10% recycling discount if you turn in an old iPod when you purchase a new one.
