iPod classic - want to dis-associate with my apple ID so that I can give it to a friend

I have two questions - first, how do I get my apple ID off of the device without having the device in my hands....and without giving the friend my password? Is that even possible?

Second - some of the songs on this iPod were purchased for school, using my apple account. Will the purchased songs be inaccessible to the new teacher if my apple ID is no longer on the device?
