What is the maximum download speed for Macbook 2010?

Hello Everyone,

I have a mid-2010 Macbook 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. I am paying for 50mps of download speed but I read somewhere that my Macbook can not support that kind of download speed whether it be for internet browsing or movie downloading. Is this true? Are the internet speeds I am paying for overkill? Please Help!

Thanks for your input!

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

This depends on a lot of things. For raw speed you will want to connect to the Internet using an Ethernet cable. The Ethernet connection on your MacBook is 1000BaseT (Gigabit Ethernet) but to get this speed, everything between you and your ISP has to be capable of it.

If you are talking about connecting to a wireless router, you won't get anywhere near that speed. What you will get is dependent on a lot of different things.

Best of luck.
