Q: My time machine won't backup. Message is: The backup disk image "....[my name] sparsebundle" is already in use. This message is not covered in any of the troubleshooting information. How can I fix this?

My Time Machine won't backup. The message is:

 

The backup disk image "/volumes [name of Time Capsule/ name of iMac] sparsebundle" is already in use. This message does not appear in any of the troubleshooting information. How can I fix it?

MacBook Air (11-INCH, MID 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.5)

    Pull the power cord from the back of the Time Capsule

     

    Count to ten

     

    Plug the power cord back into the back of the Time Capsule

     

    This simple reset will fix this issue 98% of the time. If you need more help, post back.
