Syncing calendar events with iPhone without iCloud

I tried searching, and I still cant find an answer, can you sync your calendar events to and from your phone without iCloud, I travel and i would like to sync between my devices without iCloud (no roaming and wifi isnt always available) so please let me know if its possible, and how.
