Can you buy a replacement charging USB Cord for the Ipad 2 just like the one that comes with it and will charge without saying Not Charging?

My Ipad came with a usb cord that has two buttons on the side of the connecter part for the ipad, I have been in search for the same cord to repurchase as the buttons have fallen off my current cord... I have bought other USB cords but have the issue of my ipad saying Not charging sometimes when its charging and other times it really isn't charging at all... I am sad, I cannot find one because I use my ipad daily... Can you Purchase a new one?

This would be the correct cable for your iPad:

Whether this would cure the problem with charging I can't say since I don't know what's causing the problem. Are you charging from the AC adapter, or from a computer? Many computers don't put out enough current through their USB ports to charge an iPad, or will charge it only very slowly, so if you've been trying to charge from your computer, try the AC adapter.

I had basically the same issues with my iPad 3 when charging from my laptop! however when I use my "all in one" PC I have no problems charging it up to full power except it does take a little time. The issue was keeping my batterie reasonably charged while in use and charging at the same time because like I'm sure many others do I use my iPad 3 for trading (very happy about that!!!) and it gets switched on at 4am and not turned off until 4pm and working fairly hard i might add for five days a week! I guess and the only way I can keep it charged is using my AC power adaptor! This was already recommended and a good idea in my humbled opinion. I just wanted to add a little Amen! by sharing my story. I purchased mine from EBay and the reason I did is they had a great price and free shipping. Below is the description from my invoice. I didn't feel right about mentioning the seller's by name because a few places had for same price.

Good luck hope it works out for you as did for, just one more reason to love the iPad!

Althought I have a mac, I only charge my ipad from the ac adapter that came with it... The adapter charges my phone but the plugs on the sides of the cord that inserts into my ipad the buttons have broken off I can't find any with the buttons again... We have several usb/Ipad cords but it doesn't seem to want to charge as it normally did from any of them that once worked... so I was hoping maybe I could find a cord like the one that broke.

There are 2 separate issues here:

- The Apple 30 pin to USB cable was redesigned to remove the 2 button squeeze feature pricesley because of your issue with the buttons falling off and consumers being unable to disconnect the cords. The newly redesigned cable removes these 2 side buttons for a shorter 30 pin connector that will work just fine in Apple devices. If there is an ergonomic reason for wanting the larger 2 button design you can buy a host of 3rd party Apple 30 pin to USB cables on the market. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MA591G/C/apple-30-pin-to-usb-cable?fnode=3a

http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Meter-Charging-Cable-iPhone/dp/B004SBBD8U/ref =sr_1_5?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1370983635&sr=1-5&keywords=30+pin+apple+usb - 3rd party Apple 30 pin USB cable that should replace the functionality you are looking for.

- The issue of your iPad reporting that it isn't charging is a DIFFERENT issue. Your USB cable is FINE. The reason you are getting this message is beacuse the Power Adaptor that the USB cable plugs into isn't providing enough electrical juice. If you are plugging your USB cable into your PC it might not be getting enough power. If you are plugging it into your iPhone Power Adaptor (5W) it isn't strong enough to charge your iPad with it on (it will trickle charge if you have your iPad off). What you need is the Apple 12W charger for iPad. Your original power adapter that came with you iPad 2 was a 10W charger that Apple no longer sells. Make sure the USB cable you are using it plugged into either a 10W or 12W power adapter! http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_ipad/ipad_accessories/power

Tech speak if interested: the 12W charger uses the USB cable to detect which iPad is connected and gives it 1 AMP for iPhone, 2.1 AMP for iPad 1,2 & Mini and 2.4 AMP for iPad 3&4.

You are welcome stownsend08! Sorry it didn't turn out as I visioned it while writing it down, but I'm glad you found the positive and maybe some value in my comments. At end of the day I was Really just sharing my story and passing along a good deal to help others save a few bucks BTW for both it was around twenty dollars!

And for anyone that my post left confused I Can only ask you to except my apology? I thought I was clear but maybe as mud... When I mentioned a few times that I use an iPad 3 and again I thought I was also pretty clear about showing the description of the items from my personal invoice when I purchased them. I did take some liberties or assumptions BUt it always sounds good to me when I'm writing it! :)

And going forward I'll be a little more descriptive or better yet just leave the "giving my two cents" to the pros!

Best regards, CT
