Q: Can't delete a page on Pages

Hello! I'm trying to delete a blank page from Pages and it is not allowing me. I understand that I'm suppose to insert a page break or a section break, however, it's not highlighted for me to do that. Any ideas? Thanks!

If it is a word processing document yo don't have to insert a sectoionbreak to get rid of the white page. You probably just have to click on the white page and than delete an invisible character. It might be just the last paragraph break on the page before that is ceating the blank page. To see the invisible characters go View > Show Invisibles.

Thanks! How do I know if it's a word processing document? Regardless, that doesn't work. I did go to "show invisibles" and a long blue line with a character at the end shows up, maybe a "comment" symbol? I can't get rid of that or the "blank white page".

The long blue line is some sort of break. You should be able to select it and delete it. Page 21 in the Pages User Guide shows what the different invisible characters looks like. You can download the Guide from your Pages Help menu.

    Hi Liz,

If it's a word processing document, selecting on one of the page thumbnails will select that page and any other page in the same Section. In a Page Layout document, each Page is a separate section, so the yellow Selection boundary shown below will appear around only one page.

In this word perocessing document, there is a single line of type, followed by a Page break, a second line of type shown) on the second page, followed by a section break. The third page is empty.

To delete the section break, Click below it (in the 'blank part of the page) and with the mouse button still pressed, drag upward until the break is highlighted. Release the mouse button and press delete.

    Regards,

    Barry

Thanks! All you have to do to select a blank page for deletion is to place cursor in the next space after the paragraph mark (show invisibles) and hit the backspace key. This is for documents in word processing mode. Sometimes it's easier to try formatting in Page Layout mode. Then you can just go to the thumbnails on the side, select the page you want to delete, and hit the delete/backspace key. If it shows you a warning that your entire document will be deleted, then do it the way the above instructions say.
