Q: I have activated my FaceTime but when I go onto settings to turn it on the 'on' button is not there? Have I done something wrong?

I have just activated FaceTime... Or think I have but I cannot use it. When I go on settings my email is there but no 'turn on' button. Don't know what to do??? Any suggestions?

Many thanks Rachel

I think you are saying you are at Settings > FaceTime and have activated FaceTime by entering an address (Apple ID) there.  But you are also saying at Settings > FaceTime, you do not see an "On" button at the top where it says FaceTime.

Is FaceTime restricted?  Check Settings > General > Restrictions

Many thanks to that, I can now go on but I have another problem. When I go onto it , it shows my emails address but I can't add someone that I want to FaceTime with??? I again went onto help and it says to scroll down to add contacts but that isn't there.

    Thanks again Rachel

    Add where?

You FaceTime to someone else by starting in the FaceTime or Contacts app.  You do not start from Settings.

You can't add a contact to FaceTime on your own. They have to already be setup to use FaceTime on their iOS device before you can contact them. If they are already registered, launch FaceTime and tap on Contacts in the bottom right corner of the app in order to choose someone to FaceTime with. But bear in mind, they have to already be set up to FaceTime, or you cannot contact them until they are.

Thanks but when I tap on the email address of the person I want to FaceTime in my contacts there is no FaceTime button to press in the bottom right corner of the app??? They are already set up with FaceTime and I have their address too???? I will keep trying but thanks anyway.

    Launch FaceTime.

When the app opens you will see you own smiling face on the screen.

Then tap on Contacts in the lower right corner of the screen.

When the contact list pops up, all you have to do is tap on the contact in the list and that will initiate the call. The only exception is if your contact has multiple email addresses or an email address and an iPhone number. If that's the case, another window will open with the contact's information and you should only have to tap on the email address or phone number that the person is using for FaceTime.

I have just opened FaceTime and yes saw my smiling yet rather frustrated face.... on the screen, I signed in and it verified my account but no contact icon appeared in lower right corner of screen???? And it just goes back to the sign in. Thanks for your time

I'm sorry. I was under the impression that you had already successfully activated and verified your email address and that have been getting FaceTime calls. So your email address may have been verified, but now the trick is getting FaceTime to work.

What do you mean by it goes back to the sign in? If you are actually in the FaceTime app and you see yourself on the screen, I don't understand what you mean by going back to the sign in.
