10.8.3 network accounts are unavailable delay

I sucessfully bind my 10.8.3 mac to our AD domain. The green light is on when veiwing the binding in users and groups.

However, when I boot the computer, there is a 60-90 second delay when the red warning "network accounts are unavailable" displays. This goes away after said 60-90 seconds and I can then log in with my AD account.

I have tried rebinding. I have tried unchecking "Allow authentication from any domain in the forest"

I have read suggestions on Create moble accounts, but this is a patch work and we'd rather not enable this on desktop machines if we shouldnt have to.

Can anyone help me figure this out?

Thank you,

S

I have not. We have learned to live with it.

drob's idea didnt pan out for us. We already had fast user switching turned off.

Since posting this we have a number more macs ugraded to 10.8. They all experience this issue, however not all of them have such a long delay. Most users report having to wait about 30 seconds. Some report that is is as little as 10 seconds. Some still report the 60-90 seconds.

Like i said, we are living with it until we can find an answer.

Thank you all.

Are you plugged in to the network (via wired Ethernet)?

If not, then it's likely you're not connected to the wireless network when you're not logged in. If you want to log onto the network wirelessly you have to create an 802.1X profile and deploy it to the Macs. You'd likely need to do this via Profile Manager, as logging onto the network via the WiFi icon in the menu bar will not automatically log the machine onto a corporate wireless network when the user is not logged in.

I have run into various versions of this same issue. I have had this problem starting with Lion and now even on 10.8.5. Sometimes when the user logs in the admin doesn't get added to thier account. Sometimes it won't create the mobile profile or even ask when it's the first time and then just boots in with the issues inherent with not having an actual home folder.

Our biggest issue has been password caching. It seems to cache the password and fails to check the domain for a new password. I haven't been able to find a way to clear that cache and force it to try new. I suspect that even forcing it to try new it will fail for some reason. It looks like it isn't even able to reach the domain controller for some reason. And I haven't been able to find a relevant failure in the logs.
