How can I play a PAL DVD in an NTSC region?

I just ordered a DVD manufactured solely in PAL format. I know it would require a multi-format player if I wanted to watch it on the television, but if I was going to play it off my Macbook Pro, do I need to have special software, or will my Macbook recognise the change in region format and adjust accordingly? I bought my Macbook new in 2010, version 10.6.8 (if that means anything at all).

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

It will play it and ask to change the region which you can change it I think it's 5 times.

But there is a way to reset that to zero and start over.

Hi Sunshine,

the region code can be changed only 5 times. The solution for you is to use VLC which ignores the Region Code.
