Q: Why am I not getting any sound out of logic express 7?

I'm fairly new to logic, but I recently go this off a friend just to see how I got on with it. Anyway, whenever I drag a loop in the space and I click play, no sound comes out. It shows that the music is playing and my sound is all turned, but I can't hear anything from logic?

 

If you could help me out, that would be great

MacBook Air (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

Have you checked your output settings?  In the Logic menu bar click on Preferences>Audio and in the Devices tab for Core Audio you can select your desired output device, e.g. built-in sound if you want it to come out of your computer's speakers.

    Yeah finally got it working, thanks! Also another quick question about connecting up a microphone. I am hoping to connect my mike via usb. It shows up fine under the midi support utility, but I'm unable to get any sound out through logic and am unsure how to connect it. If you could help that would be great thanks :)
