Whenever I try to pair my Iphone 5 with my Imac 2012 it connects only for a few seconds before a notification message appears on my iphone saying Imac not supported and asks me to forget the device. On my Imac it shows my Iphone but says not connected. Any help please?

Using you're trying to Tether, it won't pair. File transfer, by Bluetooth, is not supported on any iPhone. So, you can quit trying to pair.
Pairing with a Mac for any purpose other than tethering to use the cell connection of the iPhone is not supported. Is tethering what you wish to accomplish? If so, this may help:

What's the point of having bluetooth then? I actually just wanted to use my iphone as a remote for watching movies on my Imac since apple took away the ability to use their remotes on their new Imacs.
