Jun 13, 2013 2:54 PM in response to gaukyby bund,You can try to run Apple Hardware Test, which is still available for serveral iBook models for a quick diagnosis to see if the problem is hardware related.
Which iBook do you own and which MacOS Version is installed?
There were a couple of Third-party Utilities like Alsoft Disk Warrior and Micromat Tech Tool to fix disk-related problems. Older versions for outdated MacOs Versions are not so expensive on ebay.

Jun 13, 2013 11:56 PM in response to bundby gauky,I've just ordered a hardware test off of eBay (it includes an OS installation disk which I don't have), it is an iBook G4 running Tiger 10.4.6 I believe as it wouldn't allow imstallation of 10.4.11.
