Jun 17, 2013 3:42 PM in response to BDAquaby musefyre,HI BDAqua, been out of town for the weekend. Sorry for the negligence in failing to respond. No, actually, it is the Mac OS X Leopard Version 10.5 CPU drop-in DVD which I have updated this poor old nag with before, when it failed due to comcast installations of their stuff, and in other instances of reistallation. It's version 10.5 and has 2Z691-6040-A as additional identifying info on the front of the disc. ( It is 2007 © ) . Thanks. It still will not stay in the drive. I am trying to get the thing back to where it was when it was a " fully functional " computer, albeit 10.5.8.

Jun 17, 2013 4:25 PM in response to Allan Eckertby musefyre,I know it is hardware specific to the MAC PPC G5 ( Poor Old Nag ), and I have previously used it, as there is no alternative. When I opened the Xcode app in the App folder it required rebooting again, but refuses to take the aforementioned disk, which has worked fine before ¿?¿ Thank you very much.

I'd try to find another Mac to make a DMG of it & burn a copy to see if that works better.

Jun 19, 2013 10:03 PM in response to BDAquaby musefyre,Yes BD and Allan. You are correct. It is a permissions problem, I think. I can't afford a new MAC, so I'll figure it out. Thank you very much for your expertise, time and trouble. When I got my computer science degree in ' 82,
I wondered how this whole computer " World " was going to work. Answer was and is self evident.

Aug 10, 2013 10:55 PM in response to musefyreby musefyre,APPLE HAS REVIVED A MAC OS X 10.5.8 Download, online - which I just used, and it was a work-around to the OS X Leopard DVD constantly being ejected from the Drive. It was on an Apple Developer site which I accessed by posting that I was unable to restore 10.5.8. I'm sorry to not have the URL, but it was on page 3 or 4 of the site for 10.5.8 problems. Hallelujah !!! I feel like Steve reached beyond the grave to help die hard Apple users who are otherwise SOFL. I don't know whether it will sove any other problems but I feel like it was a GODSEND for them to do that, indeed !!!!!
∞ Thanks Apple , Cheerio
