Jun 12, 2013 1:42 PM in response to diesel vdubby oneutd247,I've got the VW Premium Bluetooth package and it doesn't pair with the iPhone. It requires the rSAP protocol to connect. This has been verified by Volkswagen.

Jun 12, 2013 1:44 PM in response to varjak pawby oneutd247,I've gone through the new features with a fine tooth comb but no mention of any enhancements to Bluetooth protocols. Will have to wait and see, I suppose!

Jul 16, 2013 6:46 AM in response to Marcel Aradby Rhyddin,I'm with you and I'm afraid that you're wrong, diesel vdub. I bought a new A6 recently and went for the highest spec phone kit and nav but have had to move over to a Galaxy to be able to utilise them.
Unlike my previous car, a 5 series, which, like all BMWs with data, had an intergrated sim card and managed it's own data connectivity, the Audi uses the RSAP to take control of the SIM, essentially become the phone and then, in addition to being able to make calls, it accesses data through the connection. My car needs this for the Google maps on the sat nav, traffic updates, google search in the nav and the Wifi hotspot that it sets up in the car. Sadly, this can not happen with a simple bluetooth phone connection and that is all the iPhone will allow you to do. Gutted, as I have had every iPhone, but I like the car more than the phone so I had to change!
Apparently, according to the Audi forums, there are people who claim to have found a work around but they all involve jailbreaking your iphone and seem to require very regular updates to stay ahead of Apple.
Perhaps iOS 7 will bring me back to the fold, but I doubt it. It's strange for Apple to alienate the millions of owners of cars made by the VW group (Seat, Skoda, VW, Audi and, for the lucky few, Bentley, Lamborghini and Bugatti).

Not all! Older Premium BT packages ONLY feature Access using BT SAP, which the iOS does not feature. Later VW added BT Hands Free which iOS does feature, so this explains why several user can connect and others can't…

As mentioned above: it depends on the model. Maybe a firmware update might fix it. So, go ask ask your dealer or check some good boards on the net, there are tutorials on about everything…
