Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
My iphone 5s screen turned a bright blue, then crashed. A picture came on of a plug with an arrow pointing to the itunes logo. I plugged it into the computer with itunes and initilied the restore process. No luck. Itunes said the phone couldn't be restored. I tried the online Chat help - he couldn't get it working either. That picture of the plug won't go away. I turn it off and it pops right back on again. So I'm booked into the Apple store. What's going on?
The iTunes logo with the image of the cable indicates the device is in recovery mode.
Restore it from new, this may take several attempts or put it in DFU mode (google it) and restore.
If that does not work, then a trip to the Apple store would be the next step.
I'm booked with an Apple Store appointment. I don't understand the DFU thing. The phone turned bright blue during use - may be a hardware issue.
Mine is the original post. I ended up going to apple store. The mother board was fried. They replaced mine.
I tried to restore, mulltiple times, and with the help of an Apple Chat techie. Didn't work. Apple Store is next. I'm grateful I decided to spring for Apple Care! I didn't expect to need it after only two months!

All new iPhones comes with 90 days of phone support and a one year warranty. AppleCare is not a factor here.
