Jun 12, 2013 2:06 PM in response to DQuailby Eric Ross,★HelpfulIn order to start the computer with the DVD, you will need to hold down the "C" key while the system restarts. Once the system starts from the DVD you can erase the hard drive then reinstall Mac OS X. If you have Mac OS X 10.6 DVD try using that it will save you the time of updating from your original OS to 10.6. Take a look at this link, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3910?viewlocale=en_US

Jun 12, 2013 2:28 PM in response to Eric Rossby DQuail,Thanks so much for helping me work out this problem I ran out and got an external and so far the install is going well.
