Suddenly iCal won't accept an event item. I get this:"Calendar encountered a critical error while saving to the database, and recent changes may be lost. More information may be available in the console. Using OS 10.8.4 on an iMac.

Further to my last post, I noticed an alert triangle above the left column and when I click on it this is what I got;
There was an unexpected error with the request (domain NSCocoaErrorDomain / error 259).

I did a search and this. When I got to ical folder I found two caches; I experimented and found leaving one in there replicated the problem when I left the other cache file and restarted ical all is well.

Quit iCal. In Finder, from the Go menu select 'Go to Folder...'. Enter the path~/Library/Calendars/ . A new Finder window should open. From that window move the file Calendar Cache to your Desktop. Re-open iCal.
