Thanks for your post. I understand that your MacBook Pro is unexpectedly restarting when connecting a thunderbolt display. I recommend that we reset the following:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)

You may also want to reset your computer's PRAM:
OS X Mountain Lion: Reset your computer’s PRAM
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11243
Note: Resetting PRAM may change some system settings and preferences. Use System Preferences to restore your settings.

I had the same problem once and so I decided to unplug everything before I pugged my monitor.
After i removed my razer keyboard the monitor worked, so i'm guessing the power output might have caused the restarting of the mac
