Purchasing a iPhone through Walmart Straight Talk or Apple Store

Hello Everyone,

I'm in the process of purchasing a iPhone 5. As you all know, Walmart sells iPhone 4, 4s and 5. They are the same price as Apple Stores when not signing up for a 2 year contract. Walmart offers Straight Talk at a much affordable rates with no contract. My question is; Can I purchase Apple Care Protection Plan when purchasing a iPhone through Walmart? Or do I have to purchase a iPhone through Apple Store to get the Care Protection Plan? Since I won't sign up for any of the carriers that are offered at Apple Store, a Sim will be required to hook up with a carrier of my choice. Most likely I will go with Straight Talk to save $$ each month. Does this sound doable?

Isn't OS7 awesome! How cool would it be to download the software when it becomes available in the Fall. From what I understand OS7 is only available to upgrade on iPhone 4, 4s and 5. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you. Chris

it totally doesn't matter when you buy applecare, just know that you can only get applecare + during the first 30 days and if you do it over the phone, you have to have a diagnostic run on it first. You can get regular applecare that doesn't cover accidental damage at any point after that up to the day the warranty expires, 1 year from the day you buy the phone

Hello Lawrence,

Thank you for your feedback. Currently we have Straight Talk for about 3 years and so far no problems. Although I've heard some customers aren't satisfied with Straight Talk. We have two cell phones on a $30.00 a month plan and we are looking into a iPhone as a 3rd phone to the addiition. When purchasing a iPhone through Walmart Straight Talk, a $45.00 a month plan is required. As I stated in my message, I want to make sure I can purchase Apple Care Protection Plan after I purchase the iPhone at Walmart. I will have to give Apple Store a call about the Apple Care Protection Plan and see if they will allow me to purchase the Protection Plan even though I may not buy the iPhone from Apple Store. Although I have no problem buying a iPhone directly from Apple Store if the Sim is no problem to install and hook up with Straight Talk. We don't live close enough to a Apple Store, so my other option would be to order a iPhone online at Apple Store.

Hello Amy,

Thank you for your feedback. I will give Apple Store a call about the Protection Plan. I want to verify I can purchase the plan even if I buy a iPhone from Walmart. Generally speaking, I think Apple prefers customers purchase Apple Care Protection Plan when you buy Apple products in the Apple Store. But there again I could be wrong. The WWDC was awesome and has good improved cool products.
