Q: unable to update due to invalid signature

It sounds like you cannot update iTunes because a message about an invalid signature. I recommend downloading this update directly from our site and installing that file instead:
http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1614

Oct 19, 2013 11:12 AMby mscamel,This is happening with me, too. I've tried for over a year to download the latest version of iTunes but receive the same message.
Today I uninstalled iTunes and attempted to download it from the apple website as Shelia suggested and the same problem as E nihil had - it says Thank You but no download.
