Movies won't play properly in itunes

When I play movies in itune they breakup and distort. This doesn't happen in other players I have installed. Can anyone suggest why this might be happening please?

Hi Norm,

Thanks for the links. I use Windows 8 but was okay making the sytem changes up until modifying the system drive configuration. I found the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers but there was no plus sign and I was unable to find the properties. Unfortunately the changes I'd made to that point had no positove effect on my problem.
