New Macbook Air - wifi connectivity problems

Hey guys,

Hope someone can help?

I have a brand new Macbook Air which is able to connect to the internet for just a minute or two before suddenly it drops out. This is even though the signal still shows at full strength and all my other devices are still able to surf the net as per normal.

This device is straight out of the box so no 3rd party applications have been installed. I heard that the wifi has been upgraded to 802.11n on this machine, could that be an issue?

Do i need to return the machine or is there is a software fix for this problem?

Thanks heaps!

Vicky

I have similar problem with my new Macbook Air and WiFi. The connection drops, when I try to download something bigger than ~10M(pinging every IP, even router, gives timeout). And my "wifi" icon is still not grey and this network manager says that I'm connected.

The only way to not get dropped from WiFi is to have WiFi Diagnostisc tool turned on in backgroud. Then WiFi connection will remain OK. But why?!

My router works OK(It's Cisco WAP4410N) with few other latops/mobiles, so it's probably something with Macbook?

I tried these steps. It dropped again about two minutes after the reboot following deleting the preference files. Once the wifi drops, it will no longer see any wireless networks. If it's working correctly and I turn the wifi off then back on, it will continue to work correctly until it drops.

After that, the machine will no longer see any wireless networks until it's rebooted or it wakes up from being asleep. I also noticed that the machine will "freeze up" for about 5 seconds at the same time as the wifi dropout. Definitely seems like some sort of hardware issue. i have an appointment this evening at the Genuis Bar. I'm hoping they can fix it quickly as I need the machine next week for a trip.

Thanks everyone for your help. I'll keep monitoring here and report back what the Genius Bar tells me tonight.
