    1) Yes, call Apple support. The more people call there with the same issue the more they may realize that there may be an issue

    2) but doubt calling there will solve your issue on this as it has not with any of us

    New Macbook Air 13"

Same problem as everyone else... I switched to tether it to my iPhone 5.  No problems.  So I only am experiencing the problem when I try to use the router wifi.

Are you sure you called Apple?  What number did you call?e

  • gmc74 Level 1 (0 points)

Yeah, but if you call them, they may contact you for more info.  The more good info we provide, the faster this gets solved.

They are definitely aware of the issue and are in an "information gathering" stage.

Apple contacted me yesterday afternoon to gather information regarding these issues; they found out I was having problems from this thread.

I've given them my diagnostics readings and personal experiences in detail; wireless networking is what I do by trade so hopefully they find the information juicy.

Although Apple hasn't publically announced this issue, they are well aware of it and are concerned. I understand your frustrations, I have the same issues as y'all, but please understand that this new MacBook Air has two radically new pieces of hardware, the Haswell chip and a new wireless networking interface, and problems are bound to occur with these devices.

We have all come to expect nothing but the highest level of quality from Apple, it's why we pay the premium price for their hardware, but please give their engineers some time to work these issues out.

I experienced the same issue, we have all gathered here to discuss, today with my newly acquired MBA. I went to the Apple store and picked up a new Airport Extreme and now my MBA works as intended. Not sure if those of you are affected because of single band routers or if that is what solved my problem (I didn't take the time to read 16 pages worth of reponses); but, now that I have the Aiport Extreme, MBA connects to the internet flawlessly.

If you connect via Airport Extreme/Express, iPhone tether or via a MacBookPro Internet Share, all is well..  in various other scenarios it is not.  It will be great for you at home, on the road may be a different story

Unless some sort of statement from Apple that this will be 100% fixed comes out soon, i think there will be a lot of returns made before the 14 day return period is up.
(ive got emails form various people at apple, i know, that they know there is an issue - but they could atleast say somewhere that they are working on it...)

I have the exact same problem.

The connection works fine upon startup but after some time the connection drops. The wifi icon still shows full signal. Turning off the wifi and turning it right back on restores the connection but interrupts any download that was taking place in the background.

I have tried three different routers. Same problem.

    One more update:

    - I am NOT using an Apple Airport to connect. It is a router supplied by my ISP

    - Tethering to my iPhone 5, via Wifi, works fine

My issue is that my 2013 13" i7 MBA will drop my Wifi connection after it goes into sleep mode. So after this I go up to network preferences and drop the wifi settings then re add them. I then try and reconnect, but most of the time it takes a good 5 or so minutes of doing this process over and over until it decides it wants to connect. My MBA doesn't drop the signal while I'm online, only when my computer goes into sleep mode.

I just bought the new MBA, first Apple product.  What I am experiencing and I think is the same thing all of these blogs are saying, is that I will be doing fine in my emails and then all of the sudden it won't move to another email.  The blue bar in the URL box only goes part way and freezes.  The wifi icon shows I am still connected, but I cannot seem to get the internet.  I have checked the download speeds for my router on both my desktop and on the MBA, so it is not a problem with the internet connection.  I am going to increase the time for it to go into sleep and see if that will help, however, I can still return the MBA this next week if the problem doesn't get solved.  I should not have to buy another router to work with this computer.

What router are you using and what wireless security are you using ? Some folks here have resolved their issue by updating to the latest firmwre and/or switching to WPA2 Personal as their security or changing their wireless channel on the network. Try some of the things mentioned and let us know.

What is the router supplied by your ISP ? Have you checked if the firmware on it is the latest ?
