    Double check whether you can take in to Apple stores in your home country, or what the repair procedure is like. Before the update, they were replacing the machines for people with the problem, so you don't want to be stuck with the issue, post-update.


    The issue is less pronounced after the update, but it still cuts out Skype / Google Plus video calls for me, drops during youtube and Netflix, and disconnects me from online games. It's infrequent, but my other machines from the same desk, with the same network don't experience this problem.

    This is a fake fix from Apple.  All it does is make the Air automatically reconnect every time it drops the wifi connection.

    Thre're no any "their settings". MBA is a small portative computer. It should work properly with any wifi router with which other devices work. By the present the wifi issue of MBA 2013 is not fixed.

    Exactly. If people keep buying apple routers to "fix" the issue, I can't see how apple will be pushed to fix this.

    My AE n does not work even though it's Apple. I got an AE ac and that one works.

    I've been following this thread awhile now and frustrated; still holding off on  purchase.   The software update makes  MBA almost, but not quite, refreshes  WiFi connection without noticing.  But as I feared, heavy streaming users are noticing what I call wobbly WiFi.


    The post I'm responding to is about  new ac MBA   handshaking problems with an Apple brand n class router;  but  same MBA  no handshaking problem with a new Apple ac class router.  This post + others feels more and more like hardware.


    if hardware is perfectly matched to a new Apple branded ac router, people ar happy. I know I will purchase  ac router same time. I'm surprised  more people haven't, faster speed is more important to me than more battery life; but i suppose each person knows for them what make this  model  compelling.   So that sorts out home use.

    What's no sorted is portability.  if the new ac MBA has handshaking problems with an n class Apple brand router, this points me to same question I've asked. Can the 1st run of  new  ac class chip  ever achieve perfect compatibility with 100% of all legacy a/b/g/n routers in the wild, even with the update? It's feeling more and more like that's a high bar to get over.

    Exacty. The idea of buying something to work around another device's issue is just bonkers. Only those with money will be even ready to do that. I guess there are quit a few here


    My new MBA 2013 wifi issues seems to have been fixed. I had issue with my MBA connecting to the Actiontec router verizon provided. I had WEP earlier. I changed to WPA2 and still had the issue. Upgrading the firmware on the router then fixed the issue at home. No drops after that.


    Once I installed the patch, the connection was still strong and never dropped. I downgraded security tback to WEP and still the connection holds.


    I also had dropping issues with my neighbors no security wifi. (No I wasnt stealing. Just tested with that). After the update, wifi stayed connected for for more than an hour without any drop on my neighbors wifi.

    The fix pushed by Software Update hasn't resolved my issues.  Still getting dropouts on a D-Link DIR-655 router when no other device has issues connecting to that router.


    I have 3 AirPort Extremes (4th, 5th, and 6th gen) that work flawlessly however.

    ***** to be that guy, my 13" MBA and 802.11ac Airport Extreme router have been a dream together. Also it really just depends on how much your ISP allows. Imagine this: Computer is to Ferrarri as Router is to Highway as Internet Service Provider is to Police officers patrolling the highway.

    From reading this entire thread, I have not seen anyone having trouble with the

    802.11ac Airport Extreme (myself included).  It's nearly every other router that has issues.  It's looking more and more like Apple only tested the Air with that one router.

    If all you're going to do with your Air is sit at home, connected to your Airport router, then everything will seem fine to you.  But if you decide to leave that dark cave of yours and wander out into the sunlight, you'll very likely experience problems.  The "fix" Crapple put out doesn't fix anything.  Try watching Netflix on the same router that was causing you problems before the fix.  Then you'll see how nothing's changed.

    Which again, makes me think that's a hw issue and the only thing they could do is changing the software to try to "hide" it.
